BC Thunder is BC's only team in the 13 team National Ringette League, the premier league for the sport of ringette in North America and Canada's national league for elite ringette players aged 18+. Just as many young hockey players aspire to play in the NHL,  many female Ringette players dream of playing in the National Ringette League, and BC Thunder provides that opportunity to BC's best athletes.

BC Thunder were 2012 NRL Champions and competed strongly in the NRL's Western Division. The team was unable to compete for two seasons due to the pandemic and related issues, but returned for the 2022-2023 season, finishing the Regular Season in third place in the NRL's 6 team Western Division. 

The 2023-24 season saw continuous improvement with BC Thunder finishing in 2nd place in the NRL's tough Western Division, earning a spot in the A pool at the Canadian Ringette Championships. Competition in the A pool was very tight with the top 4 teams, including Thunder, finishing within 1 point at the end of the round robin. Thunder qualified for the Quarter Final in the Championship but was defeated by Montreal Mission. Thunder's 5th place finish in the Championship was 8 positions higher than the previous year. It was also encouraging that Thunder defeated the eventual Gold and Silver medal teams during the round robin, proof that they belonged among the top teams in Canada.

The team's positive impact on ringette in BC was again evident throughout the year as the players and coaches transferred their knowledge and enthusiasm to younger players through development sessions, skills camps, coaching, mentoring and even autograph sessions.
